Who Is This Chick Behind The Mixing Pot?

Hey every body!!!! I want to welcome you all back to The Mixing Pot and thank you for subscribing(by selecting the subscribe link on the right, lol).  I am the voice, heart and soul behind The Mixing Pot, but you guys can jus call me Rachel. The idea of this blog started out as me just writing to relax. After a few journal entries I realized I was only writing about my blended family, as they are my biggest source of peace. With further thought it became obvious that the topic of blended families is very near and dear to my heart. I am the child of a blended family. My mother had two children(my older brother and I)then went on to marry a different guy that had no children. Together they gave me a beautiful little sister(yes, she is all mine lol). Surprisingly, back in the 80's early 90's blended families were not as easily talked about and sometimes frowned upon. I came from a very healthy and functional bond. We never used words like my "step" dad or my "half" sister. We knew that our sister had a different dad, but we recognized where we received the love and care that you can only get from "family". In my opinion there is nothing "half" or "step" about the genuine feeling of family and someone that makes your soul feels good. Y’all know what I'm talking about, that feeling of HOME.
Now as an adult at the age of 30, I find myself and my children happily emerged in the love of a blended family. I have two amazing children(a girl and a boy) from a 7 year marriage within a 13 year relationship with what could only be described as my high school sweetheart. To most people marrying your high school hunny sounds like a fairytale but not all fairytales end with a "happily ever after".  About a year after my separation I was reacquainted with a friend from many years before. He came into the picture with two incredible boys from previous relationships. Now we find ourselves about a year and a half later living and thriving together, blended as one with a focus on providing a  healthy environment for our "Fantastic4" as well as ourselves. I won’t go into detail just yet as to how we got to this point. Those details will make up many blog posts to come.  I just wanted to give you a little bit of a background on myself and why The Mixing Pot is so important to me.
Only thing left to say is LET’S START MIXING!!!
