Mother Knows Best

This post is extra special not only is it my 10th blog entry for The Mixing Pot but this is also in tribute to the mothers and grandmothers out there. I chose to go with this topic because this weekend was filled with so much Grandmother love. Keep in mind guys that I am ½ of a blended family. My boyfriend and I both have 2 biological children. This weekend I saw my boyfriend’s mother or ‘Nana’ (like the kids call her) call out to the children and not only did his boys go running but so did mine. To see them genuinely look at her as a grandparent figure and knowing that she cares for them as well was extremely heart warming. As parents we always want our children to feel loved but I feel so lucky that my children and I have been excepted by not only this man and his children but also by his family. Then to put the icing on the cake while at ‘Nana’s’ birthday gala this weekend my sister kept the children so all the kids went to my mother’s house with Aunt Shannon. My mother or ‘Grammie’ as she likes to be called was so happy that she got a chance to hangout with her grand babies. She laughed and told stories of them dancing and when the kids got home everyone had smiles on their face. That made me feel so happy to know the kids are feeling equality from not only me and my boyfriend but from our families as well.
So I’m dedicating this post to every Grandma, Granny, Ganny, Grammie, Giegie, Nona, Mama and Nana for giving so many children that feeling of love and comfort because we all know there is nothing like a grandmother’s love.

I was raised in a blended family and my mother has always been an amazing example of how you should treat the people that are considered your family. I have never seen her mistreat anyone from her husbands family or from my biological fathers family even with him not being there for his children. So now in my own blended family I often find myself sounding like my mother or leading by her example. I believe that's why I grew so close to my 2 new special guys so quickly. I thank my mother for the guidance she was giving me with out even knowing it. That's the magic of a Mommy!
