EQUALLY Balanced

Can you guys say blog entry number SIX!!! I can’t believe we are so close to the big number 10. This will be one of my shortest entries. After a fun filled weekend with the kids(Jungle Book is an awesome movie for children and adults) and preparing to celebrate the youngest in the house turning 6, how ironic, the deadline for this post really snuck up on me. Nevertheless I still have something important I want to talk about. After writing the last entry and expressing how important it is for the blendi-parents(yes, I made that title up) to be on the same page, I felt it was only right to share my thoughts on making sure the children are onboard too.  It can already be a little complicated teaching the children of this blended family the routines that are required in your home when (in some cases) they spend a lot of time at their other bio-parents home.
That's why it's best that everyone is speaking the same language so there's no miscommunication.

Ok, now that the blendi-parents are on the same page, it’s key that they stand by it. There is nothing worse than sending mixed signals to children. It can cause a lot of confusion and unnecessary arguments. One of the biggest areas where this miscommunication can occur is when both blendi-parents have children of their own. From experience, when blending a family that has children on both sides the best technique is to treat the children equally. Now remember that from the last post we have eliminated the use of the word “MY” when talking about the kids. Since we are looking at the kids as equals we have to let our actions reflect this. In our home there is no special treatment. Everyone has chores and everyone gets to have fun unless that person did something to cause them to be punished. While we still acknowledge and treat all the children as individuals and have our own special bonds with them, all four of them know the rules of the house applies to everyone. I honestly believe that being EQUALLY BALANCED is one of the biggest ingredients that has enabled my family to blend to as easily as it has.

HAVE A BALANCED WEEK, I WILL TALK TO YOU GUYS ON SATURDAY...XOXOXO
